Proposal to Change the Name of the Intercollegiate Center for Nursing Education to the Intercollegiate College of Nursing

Members voted to approve the proposal to change the name of the Intercollegiate Center for Nursing Education to the Intercollegiate College of Nursing.

Other Business

Vice Chair Struckmeyer described the need for a formal process for students to appeal a grade.  In his role as Ombudsman, he has encountered some occasional instances of discrimination or evaluation errors where the grade that has been given might be deemed inappropriate.  Currently, there is no process to change a grade if the instructor does not agree to the change.  Struckmeyer said that he would like AAC to evaluate some possible processes for reviewing grade appeals and he will submit proposals for the committee’s consideration.  He noted that there are models from other university’s that AAC may want to consider adapting for WSU.

Members postponed further discussion until Struckmeyer could present the various models for their consideration and could discuss how such a process would apply to graduate students as well as undergraduates.

Meeting adjourned at 4:25 p.m.
